Structural Integration is a form of hands-on bodywork that focuses on reshaping the connective tissue (fascia) of the body to promote greater range of motion, balance and restore symmetry to the body. It is performed in a series of five sequential sessions to unwind the body layer by layer.
Fascia is the fancy scientific name for the connective tissue of the body, which wraps the muscles and makes up the ligaments, tendons, and other structures that support the body.
Structural Integration Bodywork is much more involved than regular massage, and is designed to rebalance your horse's entire body structure. This total body transformation cannot happen in one session; to reap the full benefits of this work, we spread it out over five sessions with breaks in between to allow your horse to process the changes between sessions. Please visit the About The Series page for more info.
We offer free in-person evaluations to new clients within our service area. We will first chat by phone and if deemed appropriate, I will come out to have a look at your horse in person to see if this work would be beneficial.
Structural Integration focuses on remodeling the connective tissue (fascia) of the body to address the core causes of imbalance in the horse's body. This approach creates profound and lasting change to the horse's movement, posture and emotional wellbeing.
Services are available to clients in the North Kitsap region, including Bainbridge, Poulsbo, Kingston, Silverdale and Bremerton.
Occasional service to Southern CA available a few times a year.
Service beyond these areas may be available on a very limited basis and is subject to travel fees. Please Contact us for more info.
To schedule a session, reach out via our Contact page, or text/call 707-228-5455.
During the first session we will discuss your horse's health history and assess posture and movement. Sessions will be tailored to your individual horse's needs and capacity to accept the work, and will involve gentle techniques to release tension and correct imbalances in the horse's body.
We strive to work within the horse's comfort threshold. Gaining the horse's trust is the foundation of each session and allows us to ask a little more of the horse each time. The early sessions focus on releasing superficial tension, while the more challenging, deeper sessions are reserved for later in the series once trust has become more established.
Structural Integration sessions typically last between 75-90 mins, depending on the needs of the horse that day.
Please make sure your horse is clean and dry for their session, and that a safe, quiet location is available for us to work (stall, cross ties, etc). Avoid scheduling sessions on the same day as dental work, vaccinations, or when your horse will be sedated for any reason. Let us know if your horse comes up with any injuries before the session.
Absolutely! You are welcome to watch and I am happy to discuss the process as I work on your horse. Occasionally a horse will have trouble settling with their guardian present; in these instances we may opt to have you observe from a distance.
We do require that someone who knows the horse well, whether their guardian or someone appointed by them, be present during at least the beginning of the first session. For subsequent sessions, a guardian's presence is not required.
Yes, we do! We are happy to work in collaboration with vets, farriers, trainers, and chiropractors who share our passion for holistic, horse-centered and coercion-free care. Please inquire for more info.
